Curl Up With A Good Book

The Perfect Tale in “The Lost Apothecary” by Sarah Penner

Get Lost In This Book Full Of Mystery and Intrigue

“The Lost Apothecary” by Sarah Penner. I had been reading many informational/learning books lately, and I could tell that I was starting to get a little burnt out. You know, when you keep cramming your brain with information, after a while, your brain turns to mush, and retaining the information starts to be non-existent. Well, that was where I was a few weeks ago.

Then I came across this book, “The Lost Apothecary.” It first popped up on those Facebook ads for Audible, and I initially thought it was a book on herbs. Still having a fondness for physical books, I couldn’t really get lost in a book reading on a device, so I ordered it and couldn’t wait, again thinking I would learn so much more about herbs. Well, I was pleasantly surprised.

Women Navigating a World Built By Men

This book is about herbs but not in the way I had thought, and I LOVED every minute of it. In “The Lost Apothecary,” we follow three women, Caroline, Nella, and Eliza. Caroline is written in the present day, and our adventures with Nella and Eliza take place in 1791; each lady’s stories take place in London. Each chapter bounces in between these three women, each telling the story from their own perspective. Now, I don’t want to give too much away.

The basis of the story is that Caroline, visiting London from Ohio, is at a crossroads in her life and stumbles across an adventure and mystery, all after finding one tiny lost artifact. Unbeknownst to her, Nella and Eliza are linked to this mysterious token Caroline had found, a twisting tale of a time far past. Lives once lived and ones that shouldn’t be forgotten—lives of women. Just when you think you know where this story is going, there is a curveball that throws you through a loop.

The core of this story is something that I think we all go through, no matter whether man or woman but as women, we might relate a bit more to the pain these women find themselves in. The journey of finding yourself. Maybe for the first time or reintroducing yourself to the person you once knew or wish you still were.

But as we all know, finding and getting back to your true you means some things have to give. The life you are currently living, and the path you are presently walking, must come to an end so you may start anew. This book follows these brave women through these decisions. Some they made for themselves, and others fate decided for them.

The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner is a Must Read Page Turner

So, all around, this book was a definite page-turner. I had such a hard time putting it down, which I hadn’t had from a book in a while. It was great to let the imagination run wild again for a bit. So, if you are a budding herbalist, plant lover, or just need a good mystery and possible murder, this book I would highly recommend this.

And who knows, maybe at the end of it, you will be ignited to reconnect with your true self and re-evaluate your life. Where are we just giving in and pleasing? Where are we living our best life? Can we make it that much better? We are the tellers of our stories, don’t let anyone else be the author.

Wishing you love, light and inner peace babes ✌🌈✨💜
